IIDA, the International Interior Design Association works to enhance the quality of life through excellence in design. IIDA is a professional networking and educational association with a worldwide membership of 12,000 which includes 30 international chapters . The IIDA Mid America Chapter consists of Kansas City, St. Louis and Wichita. This event draws together industry professionals from Kansas and Missouri. Firms throughout the Chapter will submit projects from numerous genres, and will compete for outstanding recognition among their peers.

It is with great enthusiasm IIDA’s Mid America Chapter, announces their 4th Annual Mid America Design Awards (MADA). Critique will be based upon innovation, implementation of design through use of materials, color, light and overall solution.  This year we have the following distinguished jurors who will be joining us to review and critique all entries. Participating jurors are as follows: Beth Harmon-Vaughan, Managing Director at Gensler Phoenix, Arizona, and Mark Goetz, Principal of TZ Design, Inc. in Brooklyn, New York, and a Professor of Industrial Design at Pratt Institute. Soon to be announced MADA is anticipating fi nal commitments from three other distinguished design leaders.

This years returning Master of Ceremonies are John Newland, Vice President A&D, Herman Miller and Cheryl Durst, Executive Vice President and CEO, IIDA.

PURPOSE:

MADA a prestigious annual event which increases recognition of and promotes the commercial / residential profession. All design professionals selected for the awards will be celebrated for their efforts of exceptional quality in the following fourteen categories.

Corporate Small 0 - 60,000 SF Retail

Corporate Large 60,001 SF and above Hospitality

Residential LEED Certifi ed

Un-Built Project Product Design

Sports & Recreation Renovation & Restoration

Healthcare & Assisted Living Education & Research

Government Student Submission

Each category will receive a 1st Place Gold Award and a 2nd Place Silver Award. A single project will be honored as “Best Of Show”.
